Spring Sprint Preview 2025
Race week again!
I am so excited to run this race. A short sprint in my home town just 4 weeks after 70.3 Oceanside.
My goal for this race is to podium. I've been in fifth and sixth place in both the Olympic and sprint distances but I feel like my fitness and overall strength has improved a ton. Enough so that I think I can be top 3.
Swim. I'll need to get after it fast. I'll be in a short-sleeve wetsuit so there won't be any "my wetsuit is too small" excuses. Assuming the distance is the 440 yards advertised, I want to be in the 6-7 minute range.
Transition 1. I want to be fast through transition. Shoes mounted on the bike already and no socks. Wetsuit off, helmet on, and go. The parking lot is chewed up pretty bad but I want to send it.
Bike. I want to be in the 25-30 minute range for the 10 mile course. It's two loops with some tight turnaround corners. There are some small hills but overall I need to be red-lining.
Transition 2. Again, fast. Off the bike, helmet off, shoes on and no socks. Gotta get after it.
Run. Sub 25 minutes would be ideal. We'll see how it goes after a hard bike. 2 laps with some partial "trail" running. The route is very flat so I need to be strong out of the gates and hold on for dear life at the end.
