Covid...Again
I have covid again.
Last week we took a family vacation. I had a wonderful time and I was able to get all my key workouts in. Swimming was a bit of a pain since it had to be in the lagoon so the last two workouts I skipped.
Thursday was our last night. That morning I ran 10 miles and then got lucky with a spa appointment opening up. So I did a cold plunge along with a 50 minute massage. I was feeling ready to go.
That evening we walked to dinner outside of the resort and then after took the kids to pick out some souvenirs. Then, out of nowhere, I felt insanely tired. I chalked it up to my workout that day so I didn't think anything of it. The next morning we had to pack and leave. I was definitely not just tired, I was sick.
Traveling, with kids, while sick is not fun. Really you have to just endure. I did that. Hopefully with a good attitude. The following day I was laid out. We were supposed to have soccer games but with the time change and not feeling well, it didn't happen. My oldest slept until 10am which never happens. I stayed in bed all day.
The following day family came by to hang out. I was able to muster energy to hang with them but it wasn't easy.
Monday morning I was still feeling shitty. I took a covid test and it instantly showed I was positive. Since I have take immune system suppressants, I had to go to the ER for 7 hours for further testing.
While disappointing, I was relieved to know it wasn't because I over-trained or something. But I'm still irritated that I'm losing so many days of training right now because of this. Covid is a part of our lives now and that's unfortunate and we just have to deal with it.
So my quest to earn a spot at world championships hits another obstacle. I'm undeterred, though. I'm excited about what's upcoming and regardless of how I do, I'm going to press forward.
